I met up with Ana at her busy studio at Moylegrove, where we chatted beside the stream in the Autumn sunshine. I was not surprised that nature, the coast, the trees and streams have strongly influenced her work.
Ana had wanted to be an artist from her early childhood; However, it was only when she moved to London and enrolled at Putney School of Art and Design that she realised this dream. Initially she focused on pastels as her main media but now her work covers a wide range of media, including oils, charcoal, acrylic inks and printing. She loves to use Mixed Media to create exciting images of landscapes.
This ‘View over Ceibwr’ is one of my favourites. The use of acrylic inks generates a vibrancy and energy that reflect Ana’s Art philosophy.
She has a strong self-connect to the places she paints. She describes herself as a reflective artist who wants to bring joy to others and to share with them the solace of nature.
Ana has an obvious passion for the Pembrokeshire landscape and seascape.
Ana has exhibited widely in the West Wales area. She attracted much attention at our own Summer Exhibition with the early sale of ‘Distant Storm’ a beautifully constructed study in oil that was part of a series of sea studies.

We discussed her favourite artists and those who had influenced her on her artist journey.
Paula Rego the Anglo Portuguese female artist, Van Gogh and more locally David Tress and Maggie Brown.
Ana loves to take her sketch book out for a walk on the coast path. The images then generate ideas for development back in the studio.
Last year her focus was on the sea and cliffs. This year her theme is woodland in particular the exploration of trees and the shapes they create as light changes.
Ana has been an artist for 13 years and in addition to studying at Putney School of Art, has taken part in many courses run by The Art Academy, a young innovative Art School on Bankside in London.
Ana has had a busy year, taking part in the Swansea Open Art Exhibition, ‘She of the Sea’ in The Seagull Gallery in Cardigan, Fishguard Arts Society Summer Exhibition and The Summer Exhibition at St David’s Cathedral. In addition, she has taken part in
The North Pembrokeshire Art Trail, opening her studio and exhibiting at West Wales Art Centre in Fishguard.
She is currently continuing her Fine Art studies at Swansea College of Art, University of Wales Trinity St David’s under the leadership of Sue Williams and Alex Duncan. The access to studio space and the experienced practicing Art tutors has contributed to her working practice.
In short, Ana is a professional artist who is full of ideas and energy. She has an Instagram presence and in the future hopes to share her knowledge and experience with others via workshops. Her studio was open during the North Pembrokeshire Open Studios Art Trail.
